Same subject and almost the same pose but one with what may be considered too shallow a depth of field but which I prefer.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3217\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3217\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hyam.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160208-Ian_Edwards_f1.4.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3217\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3217 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hyam.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160208-Ian_Edwards_f1.4-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"20160208-Ian_Edwards_f1.4\" width=\"620\" height=\"930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hyam.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160208-Ian_Edwards_f1.4.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.hyam.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160208-Ian_Edwards_f1.4-427x640.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3217\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fujinon XF56mm @ f1.4 &#8211; my preferred shot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It is testing my artistic integrity &#8211;\u00a0pompous though it sounds. \u00a0I have &#8220;it doesn&#8217;t have to be in focus&#8221; ringing in my head but I am afraid that if I release\u00a0the one where the subject&#8217;s nose, mouth and chin are\u00a0soft people will say &#8220;ooh it is out of focus&#8221;. On the other hand I know that the soft shot feels more powerful.<\/p>\n<p>One of my problems is that releasing something electronically I have no idea how it will be viewed and the difference I see in the prints in front of me may not be perceived in the same way.
